How do I learn to speak Spanish fluently?

I take Spanish now in high school. They do not go into depth much, but you do get a basic understanding. I am going into Spanish 2. What software or books would you recommend to help me learn spanish?

I think your enthusiasm is awesome and the most important ‘tool’ you can have to become fluent in Spanish! I was like you and wanted so much more from my HS Spanish classes. By the time I got to college, I knew SO much grammar but could not put it together, thus was not fluent. I only became truly fluent when I traveled and lived in Spain. Its too much to describe why in this posting! But for YOU, you can still make a big difference to your fluency by practicing with native speakers. Find anyone in your town/city that speaks Spanish and talk to them! It will help you tremendously. Also, listen to Spanish language music and really try to learn the lyrics… I know this sounds cheesy, but it really helps to teach you how to put words together correctly, and also increases your vocabulary because in the process you’ll be learning new words. If you really want software, Rosetta Stone is not a bad way to go.

What is the best software or program to learn Spanish with?

I want to learn spanish, but I don’t live close enough to a place where I can take a course. So I need to learn it by myself. If possible with some interactive software. Any advice?

And which Spanish should I learn? I heard the Spanish from Spain differs from the one in Mexico and the one in Mexico is different from the Spanish in South America.

What is the best way to learn spanish beside rosetta stone?

I want to learn spanish but the price of rosetta stone is too steep. I would like to know from a Spanish speaker’s point of view but others are welcome. Are their any good free alternatives?

I think the old fashioned way is best. Take a class. Learn the basics: pronouns, conjugation, tenses. Once you have the basics down, you can teach yourself although it is easier if you are around spanish speaking people and you are brave enough to speak to them. Just keep practicing and adding to your vocabulary. I took basic spanish classes in high school, then later learned to speak fluently by conversing with other people.

How to Learn Spanish in Less than 2 Months?

If I can learn spanish in under 2 months, I get a huge raise. I am planning on hiring a Colombian chick, I know to teach me Spanish. What are the best programs/ebooks for learning Spanish? Besides hiring a tutor, do you have any other recommendations?

I am currently taking a Conversational Spanish course at the local community college and the teacher said that Rosetta Stone, while expensive, is an excellent program for learning the language. If the raise is that huge, it would be worth the investment.

If I were you, I wouldn’t hire the Colombian right away unless she is a teacher. Think about it – if you had to teach someone to speak English, would you know where to start or how to go about it? It’s difficult without a plan. For example, I have taken Spanish classes before but they were not conversational, like the one I’m taking now. I’m finally learning how to put together sentences and learning the most useful vocabulary words to know. It’s very different because of the focus.

Another tip the teacher gave which seemed to help several classmates: watch the soap operas on the Spanish channels. You can get used to hearing the words spoken and turn on the subtitles to see the words.

What is the fastest way to learn Spanish?

Just came back from Honduras and wanted to learn how to speak better Spanish. I have taken many classes in High School and College but I still cannot speak it very well. I wanted to know if there were any programs that could help me improve my conversational Spanish. I checked out Rosetta Stone but wasn’t sure if it was very effective. Was skeptical because it costs so much. Any other programs similar but at a better price? Thanks!

To tell you the truth. The best way to actually learn a language is go to the country and work there. Stay there for at least a year. The best job you can take is an au pair. If your not too bad with children, you’ll have a great time and the family will probably allow you take extra language courses and will start to speak Spanish with you once your move confident. The is a website called au pair world. You’ll have to speak spanish when out shopping etc. I think that is the best way to do it, if you really want to learn spanish. If your not too keen on working as an au pair then you can always do any job you want. Just au pair seems the best bet if your not very confident in the language.
Well thats just my idea. I’ve been an au pair in France for a year and can now speak fluently. Or you could do voluntary work. But trust me it is really the best way to go rather than learning from a cd. There is a site called Au Pair world that you can put your profile up. You don’t need a lot of experience with children. And there are families on there from most spanish speaking countries. I don’t know how you are for time and money though. So thats just an advice. Obviously if its not possible for you to do this for a year then I would suggest just watching lots of spanish movies (although thats not the best way) reading books and just generally listening to cds. Stories and music. There is also a site called interpals which is quite cool. Which allows you to contact spanish people. They could help you.

How can I learn Spanish fast without spending alot of money?

I need to learn spanish fast. How can I do it without frustration and spending a fortune?

Watch Spanish movies online, read websites in Spanish, find Spanish friends online and chat with them, listen to Spanish music, listen to the news in Spanish (most cable channels offer them), and try to immerse yourself completely in the language. It will come to you in time, I’m sure.

How long would it take to learn Spanish?

I have been in the US for about 5 years. I learned English in the first six months which I think is pretty good. I speak two languages, English and Albanian fluently. I even made my own language: X. With that in mind, how long would it take to learn spanish? Also, can you give me some sources that would help? Possibly, video sources. Give me some benefits of learning Spanish. Thanx!

ok look since those other idiots have no idea where to begin, i ll start you off. first of all some people pick it up easier than others, i suggest getting online tudors which can help you get the basics, such as alphabet, pronunciation, articles, masculine and feminine terms, ect. that should be the foundation. once you kind of know what your doing, see if theres maybe someone who knows the language so you can practice with them, if you dont use it you’ll forget how to speak it so dont waste your time unless your going to use it often. another factor is dialect different areas of spain for example speak different dialects, if your planning on going to mexico then it will be much different than traditional spanish. if you practice all the time, i bet you could be not speaking but fluent in about 4-5 years, meaning your speaking as well as your first language. if you want to be able to just be pretty good and able to communicate then about 2 years. the best language learner i could recommend you is Rosetta Stone I think you might do even better if you get that.

What would be a good way to learn spanish?

I would like to learn spanish but I don’t really know where to start. What would be a good book/website/program/whatever that would help me learn to speak spanish fluently. It would have to be relatively inexpensive because I’m poor, haha . I’m hoping after I learn spanish I could learn French, Chinese and maybe Italian.

What is the quickest way to learn the spanish language in about ten weeks or so?

I really want to learn spanish! I think its an awesome language to be able to learn, and I think it would be cool to learn the language in a short amount of time!

I would learn it with a Spanish course for sure.
